What is PachaMama?
Posted by admin on May 11, 2009 in Fundraising, Love, Rainforest Preservation | 0 commentsI’ve been working in partnership with the ‘Pachamama Alliance’ for over a year now. The meaning of the word ‘Pachamama’ is a Quichia word that means “Mother Nature” but more than that, it means the cosmos and all life.
Below is a video that explains it and where it comes from, with a message for anyone who wants to learn more about living in harmony with nature and living from the heart.
If you don’t have time to watch the whole thing, here is a message from indigenous leader and healer Don Alverto Taxo that I wanted to share.
He speaks so beautifully it is almost like poetry.
“PachaMama feels great, great love
But we, the majority of her sons and daughters
Are not living in harmony with the love of Pachamama
Who gives everything that exists
Many of her children are doing things
Which are affecting the skin, the body of pm,
Affecting the earth
They forgot that Pachamama is their mother
And they started following a wrong dream
One in which they must dominate their mother
They have forgotten the true meaning of mother
A very natural way that her sons and daughters
can reconnect with Pachamama
Is to give thanks for all the gifts
That we are offered every day and in every moment.
For example, its easy for us to give thanks for what we eat
At breakfast, at lunch and at dinner”
This is a gift, a manifestation of Pachamama.
